DIY Google Calendar meeting room display
A DIY Google Calendar meeting room display can start with the tablet you already have. Open the room’s Google Calendar and use Schedule view as a room display. This free tablet room display lists today’s meetings, but it is not a room-availability display.
What you need
- A Google Workspace account with a room calendar
- A spare tablet with its existing browser
- A nearby power outlet and a mount if you want the tablet in the hallway
Step by step
1. Try the free version
Open that room’s Google Calendar on the spare tablet and switch to Schedule view. It lists the day’s meetings and works as a free tablet room display.
2. Know what the free version shows
Schedule view shows the calendar list, not a free/busy room state. There is no pair code, the screen can sleep, and there is no tap-to-book.
3. Upgrade on the same tablet
Open the Room Cherry room link in the browser already on the tablet. There is no app-store install.
4. Pair the room display
Enter the room code or scan the QR code to pair the tablet with the room.
5. Keep the screen awake
Set the tablet’s own display timeout so the screen stays awake. The exact option depends on the tablet.
6. Use optional tap-to-book
When enabled, walk-ups can tap to book the room until the next half-hour.
